Writer, Weaver, and Storyteller

Weaving words and wisdom

Intuitive Tapestry Weaver

I can keep big pictures and stories in mind, while refining details.

Lifelong Learner

As a mother of a tween, educational specialist, and former children’s librarian, I strive to make learning fun.

Copy Editor and Writer

Words matter. And how they are presented matters as well.

Solution Oriented DIY’er

I practice by doing and experimenting and accept failure as a part of the learning process.

Maker of Quirky Items

I find joy in the strange and weird. Do you too? I now have a POD store.

Brewer, Gardener, Hiker

I reclaim ancient knowledge, spaces, and ways to connect with previously hidden ancestral paths.

Writer

I have written in many types of formats – academic, informational, and fictional. I once wrote a rhyming play about the summer reading program where I worked and performed it with a coworker and puppets to an elementary school. The kids loved it.

My portfolio can be found here.

Weaver

I primarily weave tapestries and baskets made from discarded wires and often use repurposed items and upcycled textiles in my work. I am also learning how to use other types of looms – rigid heddle, inkle, and a Swedish counterbalance floor loom.

  • Arm chair coverings

It’s been a busy week and I haven’t felt very creative. I did finish half of a project last week – a set of arm chair coverings. I used the same colors in both pieces, but I didn’t want them to be exact matches.

  • The Random Gifts

    by

    in

When I drive between my son’s preschool and work, I like to listen to audio-books in the car. I’m currently making my way through The Achievement Habit by Bernard Roth. There is a part where he describes a random streaker breezing through a lecture one day as a gift. The event changed the energy of…

  • Which?

Shall I weave or shall I write? Shall I weave or shall I write? It’s getting late at night. Shall I weave or shall I write? Both.

  • My Road

I wrote this poem a very long time ago – I think it was in the year 1994. So, about 25 years ago. I liked it when I wrote it, but I liked it even better when I discovered that my friend liked it as well. It seems like a good poem to share here.…

  • My First Post

Life is change. Change is life. After contemplating for months now, what new steps I could take for living my most awesome life, I finally took a big leap and bought myself some web space. As I get things figured out here, I am sure this space will evolve over time. Ideally, this will be…

Thanks for joining me! Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton

  • Trusting One’s Gut

So I’ve been checking out a lot of cookbooks from the library lately. For inspiration, health, and information. I’ve had low back pain for weeks which has just recently relented. And my gut instinct is telling me that at least part of it is related to diet.  I liked this one so much that I…

  • Raising my Frequency

So I’ve been listening to an awesome book – You are a Badass at Making Money by Jen Sincero. I love this author and everything she has to say. I’ve checked out the book from the library and have been listening to it as much as I can while in the car – commuting, running errands,…

  • Not dead yet

So today I found out that Carrie Fisher died. And then I found out that Richard Adams died as well…. I’m not sure which I’m more upset about.  I know I’ve seen Star Wars more often than I’ve read Watership Down, but Leia was never my favorite character. I always wanted to be Han or…

  • 2015????

So 2015 is the year that I wrote absolutely zero, zilch, nada here…. Oh well.  It’s a new year.  I’m going to shoot for at least a couple of posts this year.  If I get this one published, I’ll be half-way there.
