Writer, Weaver, and Storyteller

Weaving words and wisdom

Intuitive Tapestry Weaver

I can keep big pictures and stories in mind, while refining details.

Lifelong Learner

As a mother of a tween, educational specialist, and former children’s librarian, I strive to make learning fun.

Copy Editor and Writer

Words matter. And how they are presented matters as well.

Solution Oriented DIY’er

I practice by doing and experimenting and accept failure as a part of the learning process.

Maker of Quirky Items

I find joy in the strange and weird. Do you too? I now have a POD store.

Brewer, Gardener, Hiker

I reclaim ancient knowledge, spaces, and ways to connect with previously hidden ancestral paths.

Writer

I have written in many types of formats – academic, informational, and fictional. I once wrote a rhyming play about the summer reading program where I worked and performed it with a coworker and puppets to an elementary school. The kids loved it.

My portfolio can be found here.

Weaver

I primarily weave tapestries and baskets made from discarded wires and often use repurposed items and upcycled textiles in my work. I am also learning how to use other types of looms – rigid heddle, inkle, and a Swedish counterbalance floor loom.

I wrote this poem a month ago. It has no title. We see through you. We know that the zebras Lined up in the carport Are a sign of mental distress. And the bears lined up in front of the door Were over the top. I was relieved when I was able To open the…

You are a toxin That I need to release slowly Over time. Through tears and sweat And sweet, kind words To myself. Our son told me this morning That he thought that you had always Been mean to me. I will not Be the woman I hate to read about.

  • this is me being vulnerable

A while ago, I re-posted a blog I wrote for the people I work with about resilience and vulnerability. So while I had the idea that this website and blog (Woven Bits) would mainly focus on my weaving and transitioning from my current profession to one of my own creation, the universe seems to be…

  • Bold Ideas and the Arranmore Dream

Life has been challenging lately. Summer is always challenging. The heat is one challenge (although this has been a strangely cooler June than usual). The other major challenge is that my job gets pretty stressful in the summertime. I work in a public library in Midtown Tucson. It is a small but mighty branch that…

  • A real blog post….. with links!

I wrote a blog post for my work’s staff intranet that I’m posting here as well, because I think it is a great post and I’m proud of it. I wrote it at the request of my job’s RiPL team. RiPL stands for Resiliency in Public Libraries. For those of you who don’t know –…

  • Mental Health Day

I took the day off from work today because I needed too. Life has been giving me lots of challenges lately and I just need to catch my breath.

  • Look what the wind blew in….

It’s been super windy the past couple of days. Yesterday, I could barely see the mountains in the morning – there was so much dust in the air stirred up by the wind. Windy days usually bring a certain crazy energy to the library, and yesterday was no exception. It was a hard day.

  • I forgive myself…

It has been a long time since I have posted anything here and that is ok. I forgive myself for not having a ton of energy at the end of the night. This writing/ weaving/ project place is a new thing for me – something I hope to continue for a long time. So it’s…
