Writer, Weaver, and Storyteller

Weaving words and wisdom

Intuitive Tapestry Weaver

I can keep big pictures and stories in mind, while refining details.

Lifelong Learner

As a mother of a tween, educational specialist, and former children’s librarian, I strive to make learning fun.

Copy Editor and Writer

Words matter. And how they are presented matters as well.

Solution Oriented DIY’er

I practice by doing and experimenting and accept failure as a part of the learning process.

Maker of Quirky Items

I find joy in the strange and weird. Do you too? I now have a POD store.

Brewer, Gardener, Hiker

I reclaim ancient knowledge, spaces, and ways to connect with previously hidden ancestral paths.

Writer

I have written in many types of formats – academic, informational, and fictional. I once wrote a rhyming play about the summer reading program where I worked and performed it with a coworker and puppets to an elementary school. The kids loved it.

My portfolio can be found here.

Weaver

I primarily weave tapestries and baskets made from discarded wires and often use repurposed items and upcycled textiles in my work. I am also learning how to use other types of looms – rigid heddle, inkle, and a Swedish counterbalance floor loom.

I posted on Instagram last Friday that I thought I would be finished with Grogu this week. Alas, I misjudged time once again. This is what it currently looks like. I want to finish the top with a darker blue color that I do not yet have. And I need to finish the stitching around…

  • In Honor of Women’s History Month

Last week, I spent time working on one of the webpages on my new website. The site is still very much under construction, but I have been blogging from it, while I build it. It’s a big dream website, where I am trying to showcase various skills, abilities, and goals in one place, while preparing…

    A new page

I spent most of the morning finishing up the website page I started working on yesterday. It’s Information wants to be free (on this website) highlighting my work in libraries. I’ve also been busy trying to get my Grogu weaving finished. I’m getting close. Next, I need to figure out payment blocks for that website.…

    Grogu will be finished soon.

And I now have a professional email. I’ve made some decisions about selling online and where to concentrate my efforts. I’ve decided to shut down the Shopify store. I put some effort into setting it up and learned some good things, but I’ve decided to build what I want from this site. In fits and…

  • From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler

by E.L. Konigsburg I finished reading this book with my son about a month ago and was pleased with how well it has held up. I remember being read this story as a child. I think it must have been fifth grade in Mr. Laskowich’s class. He used to read to us every day-I think…

    Weaving with The Force

My current work in progress is a tapestry of Grogu (aka Baby Yoda). I’m really pleased with how it’s turning out. I am learning as I am going. Each piece is unique and brings its own challenges. I’m happy with how his first hand came out. I’ve never worked with a template before. I’ve also…
