At my most recent meeting of children services librarians at work, we were asked to share what we are excited to learn in a our introductions. I shared that I am trying to be excited to learn how to replace a window pane.
It’s been a long haul with this window pane. It was broken back in August and I had someone give me an estimate on fixing it. It was a good quote and I bought the supplies. Then the guy flaked. And I figured, well I have the supplies. I might as well do it. Google some videos…. of course, I didn’t find any videos with windows that look like mine.
It took me a while to get all of the old window glazing scraped off. (Like days).
Then I got the correct size glass (mostly – it may have been a tad small). I had watched a YouTube video a couple of times to learn how to use the glazing. The consistency of the product I had versus what I had seen in the video was like a gooey, sticky, snotty batter rather than the dough like substance dude in the video had.

I’m not sure if I’m excited by this learning or not, but it seems practical. I did learn that the best way to get the stuff off of my hands was using a dry cloth. I was excited to learn that.
Best of all is that I think this project is finished. I just wish the glazing would dry a bit quicker. It’s still kind of gummy to the touch.
