Is it just me?

Or are a lot of things glitching lately?

I really do think that we are at the start of an unraveling of sorts. With the systems we have relied upon (and taken for granted) over the years.

Two examples from the last couple of days:

I saw my doctor yesterday and she was having problems with the software inserting messages that she didn’t put there. I joked around that it was ai trying to be helpful, but it’s too ignorant to know that it’s doing the opposite. I’m not cynical enough to believe that it’s programmed to be unhelpful. I just question how the algorithms and so-called training is performed (and by whom).

Second example – my employer got in touch with me because he got an email saying that my direct deposit hadn’t gone through (it had). When he forwarded the email thread to me it implied that he might get charged a fee. I explained that my credit union had gotten swallowed by another and I had been in touch with payroll and had given them my new info…. I had actually been paid twice since then. I gave him the person’s name that I had been in touch with. Perhaps they skipped a step?

It seemed like this was likely a human error, but it went out as an automated email as if the senders were in the know. As if my employer had erred instead of them.

Meanwhile, maybe as an antidote, I’ve been concentrating on weaving and making. Learning new forms of expression.

The last two weeks I have been trying to go to as many fiber guild study groups as I can. Last year I focused mainly on tapestry. This year I want to explore more that the guild has to offer – which is a whole lot.

Today I went to Wearable Arts and came back with a bunch more donated supplies.

I’m on Bluesky

The group is focusing on denim and vintage lace this year. It was the denim that got me there in person today, but I have a new appreciation for lace. I’d like to make a blouse with the red fabric I got today.

And I just now thought of an idea that might combine a Halloween costume with denim. I need to think on this some more.

My hooked rug dragon is coming along.

And one more thing to pass along. I saw the most amazing dragon today that someone had sewn. It was incredible. I think the term is appliqué. It was an Asian style dragon in green with other colors. A water dragon. And it felt great to see another dragon lover’s work in person. I’m really glad to have joined my guild.
