Everything is political.
And to say or imagine that it’s not, is a viewpoint that I cannot understand.
I want this space on the inter-webs to focus on my art, thoughts, and stories.
I make art because I am compelled to.
I make art as a person who cares deeply about my planet, my mother, my source.
I make art as an adoptee. One who was not permitted to know her background due to policies made by an organization who considered my existence to be shameful.
I identify with my planet first. Humans have let me down so many times.
I identify with those who cannot speak and those whose opinions are not considered to be important enough to be heard.
What is happening in the world right now is not okay. And I am doing my best to speak up in as many ways as I can. I’ve been contacting senators and representatives, going to local civic-minded events, and making art, while trying to keep my spirit and sense of hope afloat.

When I work on my tapestry loom, I often listen to audiobooks. (Sometimes I can when I work on my rigid heddle, but not lately.)
I recently finished listening to Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins. I gave it 5 stars on Goodreads. Collins gets into the hearts and souls of her characters immediately and with an ability that I admire. My country is starting to feel a lot like Panem these days – at least to me. Collins draws her reader’s attention to the now, while writing about a “dystopian” future.

In fact, we are living that future now. We are all citizens of a planet in pain.
The Capital destroying District 12 – how is that different from bombs reigning on Palestine, Iran, Ukraine, you name it?
I want to see a landback movement in my country. I want red tents in my community for women to get away on a regular basis. I want a different type of government – one that is actually by and for ALL of the people. I want healthcare for all. And before I die, I’d like to experience life in a matriarchal society.
