Busy, busy, busy

Since my last post from long ago, I have been busy!

I volunteered to demonstrate tapestry weaving for the Tucson Handweavers and Spinners Guild at the Pima County Fair for a few hours on a Saturday in April.

Starting a new smaller snake at the fair

It was fun talking with interested people about my weavings and current work.

I warped my loom to try more pulled warp snakes. These will be finger puppet sized. I’m going to do five and I just finished the second one last night (minus the eyes).

Two little snakes

I know that one of the five snakes will be woven with my first ever homespun yarn.

It started as sheep’s wool

I love using the drop spindle as a fidget toy. (I get seriously fidgety when watching toy videos with the child I’m hired to play with and care for.) It’s only the last bit on the spindle that has recycled fibers, since I only recently got some wool carders.

My other recent fiber tool purchase was a big one.

I had to rent a vehicle to get it across town.

I am now the proud owner of a counter balance Swedish floor loom!

I’ve wanted a floor loom for a long time.

Now I get to learn how to use it.

I bought it through the guild at an amazing price. I have no idea what my first project will be. I’m hoping that someone in the tapestry group has used a similar loom and might be willing to help me get it set up. I know I can find YouTube videos, I just often feel like I don’t learn as well from video tutorials.

Anyway, I have plenty of projects on other looms right now.
