So much new learning…

I’m going through a period of learning many new things and some are related to weaving.

I’m progressing with my wedge weaving, while realizing I think I goofed early on with the diamond slit I was attempting. I won’t know until I get it off the warp, though.

There’s a difference between the bottom slits and the top one. I wonder how the shape will be affected?

The other new weaving I’m learning is using my rigid heddle loom. I finally learned the basics of warping it through a members helping members workshop at the Tucson Handweavers and Spinners Guild this past weekend.

I need to get a tiny crochet hook to make it easier to get the thread through the hole.

My first project is going to be a scarf. A narrow one. I think it’s going to be many colors.

I originally started with purple. Then I thought it was too dark and switched to white. Then I realized I wanted a thicker white so I could see more of the warp, but I didn’t want to put the two whites right next to each other, so I put the purple down next.

I also want to see how it looks with some silvery grey. So it will be a scarf of many colors and textures.

This is my beginning.

It’s fun learning this style of weaving. I hope it doesn’t take me too long to get halfway decent at it.

Happy Thanksgiving!
