Packing again

I have learned so much in the past year! Some things I relearned – like how gray rainy winters are hard on my soul.

I have only a few days left to get everything packed and ready for Tucson. My last experience with hiring movers didn’t go too well, so I’m getting a U-Haul container this time around. It should arrive and get loaded on Friday so that we can be on the road by Monday.

Part of me had hoped to make more headway on the piece on my loom before leaving, but that’s not realistic at this point. My Not a Creeper has morphed into something coming out of the box, but it still needs work. And I need to find a box to fit it in.

I still haven’t decided what to do on the bottom.

I’m adding braids for hair and plan to have some legs and feet, but I need to figure out the background because I want to layer the legs on top. I think it might get wavy…

Hopefully by the time we arrive at the old pueblo, I will have a direction. If not, there’s always something else to work on. I have a rigid heddle loom there I’ve haven’t used yet.

As I was packing up my tapestries and decorative items I did pause to reflect on all the pieces I’ve made this past year. Not as many as I might have liked to, but quite a few.

I’m looking forward to experimenting with more palm fiber in Tucson and making more masks.

It’s been a hard year, which hopefully means that there’s been a lot of growth.

And I found a box to put my loom in. It looks a bit dusty so I need to clean it. I was also looking for more paper to wrap the loom in. There’s no more paper, but I found a shirt that works. 😃

It’ll do.
