Phases of Projects

So even though I have a few projects in the works that I could be finishing up, I decided to try something new this past week – a larger circular weaving.

The start of the current project by fiber artist, Sarah Batchelder - a metal wreath frame with warp strings added and a tiny green ring in the center.
The start

This is the first time I have tried this type of circular weaving. It’s both intuitive and based on a certain technique. The intuitive part is that I had no idea at the beginning what it might look like towards the end. I just knew that I wanted to use certain fibers and colors.

Progress made on the project by fiber artist, Sarah Batchelder, shows more fibers added to the center of the weaving.
The next day…

By the time I got this far, I had my first crescent shape and thought this work would be oriented towards the moon.

A week and a day later:

A close up of the current project by fiber artist Sarah Batchelder, shows a few crescent shapes in different colors and textures.
A few moon shapes now

Last night, I knew that I wanted to add some some beads or buttons at this point and when I went through my supplies, I found a strand of star buttons I had made before leaving Arizona. I had also braided the bright blue, long strand many months ago, not knowing what it would be used for. This intuitive project goes back further than I originally guessed.

I’m pretty happy with how this is turning out so far.
