Decompressing and Re-floofing

Just like me, much of my art work was compressed in the move. They look a bit flat coming out of the boxes. Devil’s claw eyes need lashes combed out and tapestries need to hang.

And while my librarian position at Stony Brook is only part-time, I have not yet found a whole lotta time to “catch up” on all the things. Today is a catch up day, for sure.

Four devil's claw eyes made by fiber artist, Sarah Batchelder, hang with clothes pins from a black strap.
Eyes are hanging.

I’ve also been doing lots of early math in grouping like items together. I now have all of my fibers in one place, instead of five. And I even found the warping string I really wanted last night!

That makes me so happy, because there were so many things that didn’t get packed because I knew I couldn’t bring them. And then there were things that got left behind because my brain was too full as we were getting out of Tucson. Last night, I was feeling pretty poorly about myself because I thought I had unintentionally left my warping string in Arizona.

It’s been a rough transition. Making art helps.
