Getting a groove back

And trying to unpack.

The movers came last Sunday night with the stuff that left my house in Tucson close to a month earlier.

I was thrilled to be reunited with it, but dismayed to see such a lack of care on the packers’ part (of the moving truck) . The movers that showed up with my stuff were really nice and kind. They had driven it from Las Vegas and had never had to go through NYC before. They offered to help with questions about filing claims for damaged items, which I may need to take them up on. I guess they have had to deal with this particular subcontractor of movers & packers previously, and warned me that they were awful with communication.

I used to work in a private postal center way back in the day and I know how to pack a box to prevent damaged items for UPS and USPS.

How does a vodka box that’s tightly packed with books get split apart?

I may be feeling particularly surly because I am also dealing with the aftermath of a nasty Long Island bug encounter. As my new co-worker mentioned, Long Island may not have cougars or bears, but it does have lots of deer ticks.

My job as an Instructional Librarian at Stony Brook University, has been going really well. It’s fun to be around college students again.

And now that I am coming across various yarns, fibers, and natural items that were packed and moved across the country, I hoping to start creating again soon.

I took a bunch of things out of my online store, because nothing was selling and I figured I could look for some galleries around here to possibly work with.

Happy Labor Day Weekend!
