An older tapestry

Sometime this week, I plan to take all my tapestries down from my house and pack them up in preparation for the upcoming move.

This is an early one that I don’t think I’ve ever shown before.

Handmade wall hanging / handwoven tapestry by fiber artist Sarah Batchelder. The tapestry is made from various yarns, jute twine, and repurposed fabrics. It also includes an old NYC subway token.
An early tapestry

This may have been the second one I made on my tapestry loom. I was still learning about tensions and transitioning between fibers – which is why it dips in the middle a bit.

I remember I was thinking of my brother quite a bit when I wove this one. My brother, trains, and subways. (He lives in New York City).

I was also experimenting with various textures. The attached hanging item is an old subway token from New York City.
