My Heart

With so much change happening in my life right now (getting ready to move to NY), I’ve had my moments of doubt. So I’ve been checking in with myself a lot lately. Extra meditation sessions. Questioning my intentions and motives. And remembering my why. Also, remembering that I used to do this kind of thing much more frequently in my life when I was younger.

I crossed the country many times in my younger days. New Jersey to Washington and Oregon. Washington to Southern California & The Southwest and back. I just did it without having a child or a dog (or a cat with kidney disease).

And out of (seemingly) nowhere, I created this:

A hand stitched heart of various fibers on palm fiber.
My mending heart

I’ve had this piece of palm fiber hanging out for a while waiting to be experimented with.

I have two palm trees in the front of my house that very graciously offer me their old parts. At first, I thought I might use it in a larger piece. It looked like an awesome rib cage for a skeleton. But turned the other the way, I saw a heart – a bit torn up.

I started with mending the rips and tears. The green figure just sort of appeared the way some characters do when writing stories.

I do think I might add a bit more to this one before I call it done.

I also got my Sky’s the Eye decoration listed in the store. I’m still working on finishing touches to the mini tapestries.

It’s been super hot here in Tucson. And not a rain cloud in sight. 🙁 I’m sure my dog is happier to only have one source of noise stress this 4th of July (fireworks), but I would love a good thunderstorm.

Oh, and a quick heads up that once I do embark on this cross-country journey, there will be a of couple weeks (in August) where I won’t be shipping products.

Stay cool!
