Last week I signed up for a sell your art challenge hosted Creative Thursdays by Marisa. I learned about the Artful Selling Practice and tried the tips I learned. While the piece I focused on has not yet sold, I am hopeful that it might soon. And I challenged myself by making a reel to try and sell it.
I also finally got around to setting up a YouTube channel for videos and reels from my studio. I’ve only uploaded one reel so far – the short version to Rawr, Rawr went the Earth Dragon. It’s the same one that I posted on my Instagram account. I have some longer versions of the song recorded that I hope to get uploaded this week to the YouTube channel. My former storytime co-presenter, suggested that I make a reel singing the song we used to sing in our storytime. It’s based on a song from Jbrary called Mmm Ahh Went the Little Green Frog. My co-host and I had a whole range of verses we sang based on the puppets the library owned. (And we had a dragon.) I started creating lyrics based upon greetings from different parts of the world. It was always one of my favorite parts of storytime because the kids loved to interact with the puppets and it was such fun energy.
I thought for sure when I made this branch weaving dragon puppet, that I would definitely list it in the store. I even went so far as to figure out a price, but now I am not so sure I am ready to release it. I know that I want to make others, though, so please contact me if you’d like me to make one for you.
I am working on a new devil’s claw eye – it’s a sky eye.

I’ve added a bit more dark blue since this picture was taken. I hope to finish this piece and have it in the store by mid-week.
I also finally got my last mini-tapestry off the loom last week. This is the last one in a four part series of elemental spirits. It still needs a few more decorative bits added before it’s done. And I need to revisit the first spirit I worked on and add some finishing touches to that one as well.
The heat has finally arrived full force in Tucson and we are in triple digits. Happy Summer, everyone!
