Which would have been great if that’s what I had been aiming for. 😃
Instead I had been trying for something more tree like. Bark and leaf – keeping in mind that I haven’t painted my toes since I was a teenager.
I got the earthy part, at least…
Things are going much better with my work and I’m super excited to have finished some projects this weekend.
I’m very lucky to have received a couple of donations of different materials from a couple of different people recently. That combined with my desire to start working with a material I already have – devil’s claw seed pods – has sparked ideas for a few different weaves I’d like to try. The first set of weaves I’m working on is a bunch of eyeballs. Here are the first two:

I also finished my second branch weaving and I love it! It’s also given me an idea of a whole new avenue to pursue: hand woven storytelling props. While this is likely not sturdy enough for a toddler’s fingers, I imagine it would last awhile with adult handling.

So while I may have failed on my first attempt at painting my toes in years, I’m feeling pretty good about the fiber art I’m creating.
Happy Memorial Day!
