New Rhythms & Routines

It’s my son’s last week of school and part of my brain is in a panic. Like Chicken Little, it’s stuck in a loop – change is coming! Change is coming!

Tucson schools let out at the end of May and start back up in the beginning of August. And I’m planning to homeschool my child for fourth grade. So this is really the beginning of a new transition. I’m not sending my child to camp this year because he doesn’t want to go. And in the past, he’s had to go because I didn’t work from home.

He will be going to library programs. I get to be a patron this summer reading time.

And this is weaving related how?

Because everything is intertwined.

My tagline for this site used to be: Weaving life, one strand at a time. I changed it, so that my products (and function?) might rank higher in a search engine (and explain more with less clicking). And while my poet’s heart might be bruised by this, the entrepreneur says “of course”.

So, weaving projects:

A woven carafe made with a repurposed plastic frame and various fibers woven around it. It sits on a piece of repurposed blue jeans on a makeshift table next to a cup of coffee (with cream) in a ceramic gray mug with a painted plant. Part of a hammock can be seen in the background.
A Strange Brew

This carafe is ready. I need to get the descriptions written and measurements taken and add it to the store.

I am still working on my four parts series. One and two are done and I am partway through the third:

A mini tapestry hangs from a stick and a devil’s claw seed pod. Woven into this multi fiber tapestry are a creosote stick, palm fiber, jute twine, various yarns, and a ribbon.
First in the new series
A mini tapestry still on the loom. Predominately white and blues with some yellows, a couple of macrame feathers and a red button.
Second in the new series

I’m not going to post a picture of the third in the series yet. Maybe by next week, I’ll have that one done.

Instead, here is a different project:

A dragon.

A branch weaving with greens and brown and fiery reds. It’s a dragon breathing fire! A shell eye sits on a blue background with a red rim. A devil’s claw seed pod makes the horns.
My second branch weaving

This one still needs a bit of work. I plan to outline the teeth some more and add more texture to the top and perhaps part of the stick.

And that’s all for now.
