I loved this book! I loved the main character and first person mental dialogue. It reminds me of Craig Johnson’s Walt Longmire series. I also loved that I learned tidbits of information about various native cultures around the world.

Padoskoks is the second in the Jacob Neptune series and is set in both the Adirondacks (NY) and Puget Sound (WA).

I read the first book, Chenoo, at least five years ago and remember liking it. It was like no other mystery I’d ever read. It was more like a myth-tery, since myth was intertwined with the mystery. Padoskoks is similar in this fashion.

And Jacob Neptune is an over the top character. He has a background in special forces and worldwide experiences. With his best friend sidekick, part of this series reminds me of Clive Cussler’s Dirk Pitt Adventure series. Except that the main characters are Native American.

I recommend this book for fun over the top adventure/ mystery, mixed with cultural stories from a wise cracking Abenaki martial arts expert, poet, and animal lover.
