More snooze please

After a horrible morning yesterday of trying to get out of the door with my son in a reasonable amount of time – not late for work – I chose to start today by giving myself more. I hit the snooze button and laid in bed for an extra ten minutes.

I wish I could hit a snooze button on my life – snooze for a few days instead of just ten minutes.

Compassion fatigue? Yup!

Mentally checked out? Yup!

Interactions with others? As little as possible, please!

And I can’t even take a mental health day because I have no leave time left due to Pima county’s mandatory stay at home plan for its workers over the holidays. It didn’t do much for stopping the spread of Covid 19, but it sure did use up what little leave time I had left. The county made sure to call it a plan rather than an order, so that they didn’t have to give employees any extra leave time.

At least Chuck Huckleberry (Pima County Administrator – one of the highest paid in the country!) didn’t get the raise he wanted.

And I know that so many other people have things so much worse, so why am I complaining?

On the bright side, I did manage to apply for my first fiber arts contest this weekend. I submitted descriptions and pictures of my two best tapestries from 2020 for a Stories from Nature contest. Thank you Rosemary, for sending me the link. While I don’t expect my work to be selected, I am happy to be pushing myself and trying new things. Things that I am excited about, rather than things I am told I need to do.

Quetzalcoatl’s Daughter (one of my entries)

The other thing I am happy about is finally completing the “Go Away Covid 19” flannel story I’ve had in my head since last April. It’s based on Ed Emberly’s Go Away Big Green Monster and is posted on my library’s Facebook page.

And if I had been able to snooze the day away, I am sure I would have missed the snow in Tucson today. It only happens once every few years and is definitely fun to witness. I just hope my son gets a chance to break away from his remote schooling and play in the snow. I am glad he wore his warmest jacket today.
